As injectable medical experts, we are proud to offer a Pain Relieving Joint Injection Clinic at our Worcester location with Mr Andrew Pearse and Dr Matt Davis.
Joint pain and stiffness can have such a negative impact on our daily lives, especially if you have previously enjoyed such an active life. Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear in the joint and can start to make daily activities such as walking and gentle exercise difficult with reduced mobility and pain.
If you suffer from arthritis and joint pain, we offer pain relieving injections for knees. Under aseptic technique in our medical treatment rooms, we offer 3 potential injectable treatments:
Steroid with local anaesthetic
We will inject a blend of local anaesthetic and steroid which aims to relieve your arthritic pain for 6-12 weeks. You will have an immediate effect from the local anaesthetics, and the steroid injection will take 24-72 hours to take full effect. It is a well-recognised, safe and widely used treatment to combat the pain of arthritis and give you freedom and mobility back in your daily life.
Hyaluronic acid (Durolane)
We inject Durolane to give long-lasting pain relief for patients with mild to moderately arthritic knees experiencing pain and swelling. The treatment has been used successfully for many years and can relieve pain for between 3 and 6 months, with some reporting effects for 12 months. It is not available on the NHS locally despite its excellent track record and safety profile.
We are excited to be one of a few centres around the country selected to offer this new treatment of an injectable hydrogel implant. Although the use of Arthrosamid has been common in the beauty industry for many years, confirming its safety, its introduction as a treatment for patients with swollen and painful arthritic knees is in its infancy. Early results demonstrate a longer-lasting effect than most other injectable treatments, with significant improvement up to and beyond 3 years after treatment.
